Let’s Move Nation 5K Fundraiser
As a dancer, health and fitness is so important to me. Obesity is a huge health problem in America right now so we really have to do everything we can to start leading healthier lifestyles! Because of this, I was incredibly happy to take part in the 5K ‘Move It’ hosted by LA Unified School District on April 23rd at the Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles.
I had the honour of being a Featured Champion with the Let’s Move! campaign, an initiative started by Michelle Obama to encourage families to adopt healthier practices by being physically active and eating well. After all, it’s very important to work together to show our kids how they can start being healthy and more importantly, how easy and fun it can be!
It was a beautiful day and I was so pleased to see thousands of LAUSD students, families, and community members come out to raise money for health and wellness centres across LA. To start the day off, we did a 5678 warmup routine to get that blood pumping!
When I looked out to the crowd during the warmup, I loved seeing how responsive and enthusiastic everyone was! I’m so glad I got the chance to be a part of such an amazing event!
I understand how easy it is to pick your favourite TV show over playing outside, or grab some fast food instead of making a healthy meal at home, but I really want to show how easy it is to balance a healthy lifestyle with some of your favourite guilty pleasures! That’s one of the biggest reasons I started 5678 Fitness – I want to show people that you don’t have to be a professional dancer with hours of training to live a healthy lifestyle. With the time and equipment you have at your fingertips you can start moving and start loving life!
Let’s join in the fun and and Let’s Move!
And a 5-6-7-8!
